What if learning didn’t feel like learning?

Hiva is a design study for a children’s learning platform. It speaks in two voices: to the grown-up at the door, and to the child at home.

01 · The Idea

A grown-up decides at the door. A child says “again” at home.

Children naturally explore through play. Hiva was imagined as a digital space where educational activities, puzzles, and entertainment come together without making the experience feel like another classroom.

The goal was simple: make curiosity the starting point.

02 · The Challenge

A grown-up wants it safe. A child wants it fun.

Problem

Many educational platforms overwhelm children with structured content, complex navigation, and interfaces that feel more instructional than playful. The challenge was to create an experience that keeps children curious and engaged without losing its educational purpose.

Solution

Hiva brings learning, puzzles, and play into one simple experience. Friendly characters, intuitive navigation, rewarding progress, and a soft visual language make every interaction easy to understand, helping children learn naturally through exploration and play.

03 · The Experience

The child’s side: Play, Learn and Puzzle, as on the laptop.

Play

A lighthearted space built around discovery and enjoyable interactions.

Puzzle

Puzzles that encourage concentration, observation, and problem-solving through play.

Learn

Educational experiences presented in a softer, more approachable environment.

04 · Hiva In Numbers

Hiva in numbers, a board of cards with illustrative figures drawn for a design study, not measured results: 78% learning goal completion and 12K active children, 1.2M total learning sessions, 57K new users, a team of passionate people, 250K learning activities completed, loved by children and parents, a tile on product design and one on turning learning into an adventure.

What a grown-up checks at the door. The figures are illustrative.

05 · Visual Direction

The welcome screens speak to a grown-up: “helps your children learn.”
